With these abnormal temperatures at the end of January and February you are giving us ice fishing guide extreme stress and anxiety. Yes, we have ice. Yes we have safe ice. Not great, but there are still Walleyes and Perch deep. A lot of the Perch are on the smaller side, but we managed quite a few 9-10 inchers with a few 11-12’s mixed in. The only problem with fishing in deeper than 33 feet of water, they are probably all dead. The smaller Perch and the BIG Walleyes cannot handle the rapid change in pressure.We found ourselves in the northern reaches of the basin this morning and with 1 move we started seeing some fish, and the right kind. 2 19-20 inchers that were very healthy and all spawned out.
